The Council of the City of Philadelphia is pleased and proud to honor, recognize and welcome the bike tour, Ride To Freedom to the City of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection.
Whereas, The bike tour, Ride To Freedom, is working in partnership with the Friends of Falun Gong (FoFG), Ride To Freedom is actually a project of the Friends of Falun Gong; and
Whereas, On June 1, 2015, “International Children’s Day,” an international group of teenagers began a journey across the United States on bicycles to make a difference in the lives of children being persecuted in China. The kids will start their tour in LA and come to Philadelphia on July 12, 2015; and
Whereas, The bike tour, Ride To Freedom, a project of Friends of Falun Gong (FoFG), an independent, nonprofit organization that advocates freedom of belief for Falun Gong, a peaceful self-improvement practice of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance. The tour is a 3,000 mile bicycle ride beginning in LA and ending in Washington DC. The ride is a human rights campaign organized by teenagers to Shine a light on the brutal persecution of Falun Gong in China, which is impacting families and children in China and around the world, Gain the global support of millions of people around the world to end this persecution, Rescue five persecuted orphans currently in hiding in China and Save the lives of these children; and
Whereas, Ride 2 Freedom riders are Falun Gong practitioners from around the world. They hail from 5 continents and represent countries including USA, Canada, Germany, Israel, Poland, India, Tanzania, Russia, Peru, Ukraine, and Czechoslovakia. Each mile of the riders’ journey will be streamed and broadcast by New Tang Dynasty TV (NTDTV) and the Epoch Times. There will be a welcoming party for the riders at the Liberty Bell pavilion as they arrive in Philadelphia on the morning of July 12.
Therefore, By virtue of this Citation, the Council of the City of Philadelphia does hereby honor and recognize and welcome the bike tour, Ride To Freedom to the City of Brotherly Love and Sisterly Affection. We commend all involved for their tenacious efforts for the cause and extend the sincere respect and admiration of this legislative body. Congratulations!
